NIH HIV Training Grants
There are three HIV-focused NIH T32 Training Grants, for both pre and postdoctoral level at DC CFAR collaborating institutions led by DC CFAR investigators. In addition, there is one HIV-focused R25 Training Grant, focused on undergraduate trainees. All these grants share a common goal of helping develop the next generation of HIV researchers.
Training Program in NeuroHIV (TPNH)
PIs: Italo Mocchetti, PhD and Marta Catalfamo, PhD
TPNH is a T32 program supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and based at the Georgetown University Medical Center.
Goal: Prepare the next generation of scientists who will contribute to the understanding, treatment and prevention of HIV-associated neuronal disorders. The program will focus on the scientific and professional development of predoctoral students through didactic coursework, laboratory research and career development training.

Training Program in Approaches to Address Social-Structural Factors Related to HIV Intersectionally (TASHI)
PIs: Lisa Bowleg, PhD, MA and Deanna Kerrigan, PhD, MPH
TASHI is a T32 institutional research training grant supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and based at the George Washington University.
Goal: Prepare the next generation of community-engaged researchers through a doctoral training program to study and address social-structural determinants of HIV outcomes using an intersectional lens to promote health equity and end the epidemic.

Training in HIV Persistence, Co-morbidities and Therapeutics (HIVPeCoT-TP)

HIVPeCoT-TP is a T32 program supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and based at the George Washington University School of School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Goal: Prepare the next generation of HIV researchers using a predoctoral training program with "a dual mentored research project, education in specific skillsets, research career development and exposure to the needs of communities at risk".

Latino Scholars in HIV/AIDS Research Education (SHARE)

Latino Scholars in HIV/AIDS Research Education (SHARE) is a NIDA-supported research education grant (R25) that offers improved opportunities for undergraduate Latinos in mentoring, research, and education in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and substance use disorders (SUD). The expectation is to promote development of a cadre of Latino students committed to pursuing behavioral, social and health science research careers in HIV/SUD; facilitate their success in future academic and research endeavors; and to increase diversity of well-trained researchers in the behavioral and social sciences of HIV and SUD.
