Clinical and Population Sciences Core

The mission of the Clinical and Population Sciences (CPS) Core is to support DC CFAR investigators through the provision of high-quality clinical, biostatistics and epidemiology services, and access to patients, data and biologic specimens from HIV clinics and other large NIH-funded studies in DC. The Core focuses support on studies that address the DC CFAR mission of ending the HIV epidemic in DC and improving the health and quality of life of persons with HIV, are consistent with the NIH HIV/AIDS research priorities, and contribute to the DC Mayor’s plan for “Ending the HIV Epidemic in the District of Columbia for all communities by 2030”.

The Core’s services include consultative clinical, biostatistical and epidemiologic design expertise as well as culturally appropriate community outreach to at-risk and HIV-infected populations.

Specific Aims

  • Aim 1: Provide comprehensive clinical, biostatistics and epidemiology services to DC CFAR investigators.
  • Aim 2: Expand the breadth and impact of clinical and population science and multidisciplinary HIV research in Washington, DC.
  • Aim 3: Support community and public health partnerships to accelerate the translation of research findings into action.
  • Aim 4: Promote the recruitment and career development of clinical and population HIV scientists.
