UNC CFAR Hosts 2019 National CFAR Meeting and National CFAR CAB Coalition (N3C)

The DC CFAR was pleased to participate in the 23rd Annual National CFAR Meeting hosted by the UNC CFAR in Chapel Hill on November 5-8. The meeting brought together the leadership of and investigators from the NIH-funded CFARs from across the country for a series of scientific and administrative meetings.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the annual National CFAR Scientific Symposium, which featured presentations from and discussions with leading senior and early-stage HIV investigators. The symposium included a session on Ending the HIV Epidemic led by NIAID Director, Dr. Anthony Fauci, followed by a panel discussion which included DC CFAR Director, Dr. Alan Greenberg. In addition, the Early Stage Investigators (ESI) Poster Presentation and Reception included posters from DC CFAR Investigators Dr. Adeline Koay (CNMC) entitled "Recent Trends in the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area" and Dr. Amanda Blair Spence (GU) entitled "Cancer Incidence among a cohort of persons receiving HIV Care in Washington, DC".

The National CFAR CAB Coalition (N3C) Annual Meeting was held on November 5-6, 2019 in conjunction with the CFAR National Meeting and Scientific Symposium. The two-day event brought together representatives from most of the CFAR Community Advisory Boards from across the country for a business meeting, community symposium, and round table discussions with representatives from NIH, HHS, and several presenters from the North Carolina health and research community. Topics covered included: Transgender Health, HIV and Aging, HIV Criminalization and U=U. DC CFAR Community Coordinator and CAB Chair, Marcia Ellis along with DC CFAR CAB members George Kerr, SaVanna Wanzer, Wallace Corbett, and Melissa Turner participated.
