DC CFAR Co-Hosted CFAR Adelante Orientation and Close-Out Workshop

The CFAR Adelante Orientation and Close-Out Workshop was held at Atlanta, GA on December 5. The Emory University CFAR, DC CFAR, and NIH co-hosted the event, which brought together 2017 and 2019 Adelante program grantees.

DC CFAR investigator and 2017 Adelante awardee, Dr. Ana Maria Del Rio Gonzalez (GW) provided a final progress report on her project "Factors Associated with PrEP intentions and use among Latina immigrant transgender women in DC". DC CFAR investigator and 2019 Adelante awardee, Dr. Leah Varga (DC Health/GW) provided a presentation on her project "Latinos living with HIV in DC: Exploring experiences in engagement and retention in care". The workshop also included the participation of Adelante mentors, Drs. Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz (GW) and Maria Cecilia Zea (GW). Dr. Zea provided opening remarks and facilitated a panel on "Collaborative Community Partnerships". CFAR Adelante is a program dedicated to mentoring new HIV/AIDS investigators to meet the needs of the Hispanic/Latino Communities.
