The District of Columbia Center for AIDS Research (DC CFAR) is pleased to announce the next cycle of research proposal solicitations through its Pilot Awards Program. This competitive program seeks to provide pilot research funds to HIV/AIDS investigators who demonstrate potential to successfully compete for future federal funding and eventually establish themselves as independent NIH-funded investigators.
Faculty investigators at the six participating DC CFAR institutions (American University, Children's National Medical Center, Georgetown University, the George Washington University, Howard University and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center) who are full members of the DC CFAR are eligible to apply as Principal Investigators (PI) to the Pilot Awards Program.
The Pilot Awards Program funds research projects that focus on HIV/AIDS and related opportunistic illnesses. The scope of projects that will be considered for this cycle is broad and includes basic, clinical, epidemiologic, social behavioral and prevention HIV/AIDS science. Applications are encouraged that focus on highly impacted populations (specifically MSM and other sexual minorities, criminal justice affected communities, high risk women, and adolescents and young adults) with particular attention to the NIH high priority HIV/AIDS research areas.
Resubmission applications will also be accepted from investigators who applied to a previous cycle of the program but did not receive funding.
