Remembering DC CFAR CAB Member, Joseph Hall

October 31, 2019

Joseph Hall
It is with deepest sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and fellow advocate, Joseph Hall. Joseph was one of the original members of the DC-D-CFAR Community Advisory Board (CAB) and was a Chairperson for the Washington DC Veteran Affairs Medical Center Infectious Diseases CAB. He was also a member of the ACTG CAB at Whitman-Walker Health and Georgetown, the INSIGHT and HPTN network CABs.

Joseph was a brilliant and thought-inspiring DC-based HIV research advocate since 2002.  He represented the community on several other domestic and international research-related activities, including the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) and the International AIDS Society (IAS) meetings in Rome and Washington, DC.  He was a leader in the community participation in the CFAR Social Behavioral Science Network (SBSRN) and the National CFAR CAB Coalition (NCCC). We are grateful for Joseph's wise and thoughtful advice and his powerful voice in advocating for HIV/AIDS research. We extend to his family and friends in the US and other parts of the world our heartfelt and profound thoughts of comfort and peace. He will be greatly missed.
