Social and Behavioral Sciences Core Grant Writing Workshop

March 17, 2017

The SBS Core is considering organizing a grant writing workshop for early to mid-April. This workshop would take a similar form as our peer consultations, in that participants would include both those developing grant applications and SBS core experts and staff. It would be timed to provide feedback to those who are considering or planning on submitting a grant application for a May 7 submission deadline. However, others who are interested in getting Core/peer feedback on their grant ideas are very welcome to participate as well. You should consider participating in the workshop if you:
  • have previously submitted an application for SBS related research that was not funded and are considering/planning on revising it
  • are currently working on an SBS related research application and would like feedback of any kind
  • are currently working on or seeking feedback on how to respond to previous criticisms on a research application that is not necessarily SBS focused, but involves an SBS component; or you would like to add an SBS component to your research application
  • would like to brainstorm about where to go with an SBS HIV/AIDS related research project that is ending and that might lead to a new research application
  • would like to brainstorm with colleagues on how to turn your HIV/AIDS related research interests into an NIH grant proposal
  • would like feedback on whether your SBS related research interests can be applied to HIV/AIDS related topics
If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please respond to Allison O'Rourke and let her know where you are in the application process (see categories above or specify your particular need), and the topic area of your research/application. Once we have a sense of the level and nature of interest in the workshop, we will work on scheduling. If you are uncertain whether your needs would be best addressed through this mechanism, please feel free to contact Allison O'Rourke with any questions.
