DC CFAR Investigator Dr. Marta Catalfamo (GU) and colleagues published an article in The Journal of Infectious Diseases September 2019 entitled "Recombinant Human Interleukin-15 and Anti-PD-L1 Combination Therapy Expands a CXCR3+PD1−/low CD8 T-Cell Subset in Simian Immunodeficiency Virus-Infected Rhesus Macaques".
Based on the authors' analysis administration of rhIL-15/anti-PD-L1 in SIV-infected RM receiving combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) was safe and well-tolerated. Treatment promoted the expansion of a functional CD8 T cell subset with potential to migrate to tissues and no effect was observed on plasma viremia following cART interruption.
