DC CFAR investigators Dr. Maureen LyonDr. Lawrence D'Angelo (CNHS), and colleagues published an article in the AIDS Care Journal entitled "The influence of religious beliefs and practices on health care decision-making among HIV positive adolescents".

This study examines the role that religiousness and spirituality play in end-of-life treatment preferences among adolescents living with HIV. Based on their analysis, the authors found that highly religious/spiritual adolescents were four times more likely to choose to continue treatments in three hypothetical end-of-life scenarios than less religious/spiritual adolescents.
