DC CFAR Investigator Dr. Xiong Jiang (GU) and Director of the Clinical and Population Sciences Core, Dr. Princy Kumar (GU) along with their colleagues from Georgetown University and University of California San Diego, recently published an article in NeuroImage: Clinical December 2019 entitled "Low CD4 nadir linked to widespread cortical thinning in adults living with HIV".

Using high-resolution structural MRI images and neuropsychological data, the authors describe how low CD4 nadir is associated with widespread cortical thinning in adults with HIV, especially in the frontal and temporal regions.  In addition, the investigators highlight how frontal cortical thinning is associated with worse neurocognitive function.
