The DC CFAR is pleased to announce that Dr. Virginia (Ginny) Kan will be joining the DC CFAR Executive Committee as the institutional representative from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).

Dr. Kan is the Acting Chief of the Infectious Diseases Section at the VAMC and a professor in the Department of Medicine at The George Washington University. Dr. Kan is a long-time DC CFAR member whose recent research focuses on HIV and Hepatitis C cascades of care. She serves as the Medical Officer for the INSIGHT clinical trials network and is the Director of the Virology Core Lab for HIV quantitation, HCV quantitation, and genotyping and Chlamydia/Gonorrhea molecular detection.

Dr. Kan will succeed her colleague Dr. Fred Gordin. Dr. Gordin was a founding member of the HIV/AIDS Institute, DC Developmental CFAR and DC CFAR Executive Committees and is a leading HIV clinical investigator in DC. He has contributed enormously to the launching and growth of the DC CFAR, and we are deeply grateful to Dr. Gordin for his numerous contributions.

Please join us in sharing our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gordin and in welcoming Dr. Kan to her new role on the DC CFAR Executive Committee.
