DC CFAR Investigator, Shawnika Hull, PhD, Named a UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies Visiting Professor

DC CFAR Investigator and Pilot Award recipient, Shawnika Hull, PhD (GW), has been accepted into the Visiting Professor Program at the University of California San Francisco Center for AIDS Prevention Studies. As a Visiting Professor, Dr. Hull will take part in a training program for scientists conducting research to reduce HIV/STI health disparities. Dr. Hull's research, which will focus on the impacts of drug use on black women's PrEP uptake, will be supported by a $20,000 pilot award. In addition, over the next three years Dr. Hull will participate in summer sessions, prepare an NIH grant proposal, present the results of her study and develop a research program with mentoring by UCSF faculty researchers.
 
DC CFAR Social and Behavioral Sciences Director, Lisa Bowleg, PhD, and Co-Director, Maria Cecilia Zea, PhD, are both alumni of this competitive and prestigious program.
