Dr. Ron Simmons, Executive Director of Us Helping Us and DC CFAR CAB member has been featured in an article published by the Black AIDS institute. The article entitled, "Ron Simmons: On the Cutting Edge for 25 Years", honors Dr. Simmons for his 25 years of leadership at Us Helping Us, which has grown to become the oldest and largest group committed to improving the health and well-being of Black gay men and reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Simmons details his journey to becoming Executive Director and relates his proudest accomplishment as "being able to take a support group from living rooms to being a certified treatment center with 24 full-time employees and a $2.4 million budget". Dr. Simmons will retire as executive director at the end of 2016.
