Core Services Spotlight: Social and Behavioral Sciences Core Consultations

Could you use some support with your SBS HIV-related grants or manuscripts this summer? The SBS Core is eager to assist DC CFAR investigator members by providing consultations and services to support early stage and established investigators new to SBS-related HIV research! Types of consultations and services the SBS Core offers to help enhance your research productivity include:
  • Consultations to support you as you develop or refine your ideas for a new DC CFAR pilot award or NIH grant application;
  • Brainstorming and feedback on your responses to reviewers to revise and resubmit a grant proposal or manuscript;
  • Peer reviews of NIH grant applications;
  • Qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis assistance;
  • Consultations to develop manuscripts based on your SBS-related HIV research;
  • Feedback on design, measures, methods, IRB issues, etc.;
  • Assistance with finding collaborators, including potential community partners;
  • Assistance with and/or feedback on project development steps (e.g. writing timelines, biosketches, budgets, etc.) to jumpstart your progress;
  • Consultations on career-related issues (e.g. considerations on prioritizing peer-reviewed manuscripts over grant applications);
  • Consultations on which R-mechanism (e.g. R01, R21, R34) is best for your research proposal; and
  • Help with facilitating access to secondary data from existing collaborations (e.g. the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) or the DC Cohort).
