Transition from Developmental to Full CFAR: Press Coverage

June 3, 2015

On Monday June 1, we began our first week as the full District of Columbia Center for AIDS Research (DC CFAR), with a five-year project period of 2015-2020. This is an exciting time in which we will work to address the DC CFAR mission of supporting research that contributes to ending the HIV epidemic in Washington, DC and beyond. Several highlights of our plans for the DC CFAR include doubling the number of Pilot Awards for early stage and new investigators to 8-10 annually; supporting two new Scientific Working Groups on HIV Cure Research and Highly Impacted Populations; strengthening our mentoring program and core service provision; and expanding community-related programming. During our first year, we will feature a "rolling launch" of the DC CFAR, scheduling educational events and seminars across DC at our various collaborating institutions, including the inaugural DC CFAR Research Day in spring 2016. So stay tuned to the DC CFAR Weekly Update for announcements of our planned activities in the months ahead! Press coverage of the full CFAR can be viewed below.
