Multiparametric Flow Cytometry
Recent research trends in immunology have opened new avenues of research and necessitated advanced flow cytometric instrumentation. Enumeration of central memory, long-lived, proliferating or polyfunctional cells are some of the few examples that require multiparametric flow cytometry (MFC) technology, since many markers are needed to discriminate each of these cell types from other populations of leukocytes. Highly multiplexed approaches such as MFC are critical exploratory tools to identify potential correlates of pathogenesis.
Instrumentation
The Multiparametric Flow Cytometry Core Laboratory has a customized BD LSRFortessaTM X-20 with 4 lasers: Blue-488-50 mw, Red-640-100 mw, Violet-405-50 mw and the Yellow Green-561-50 mw; and includes a High-Throughput System (HTS) and a working station.
Services
The instrument is available for booking. A basic training provided by the In-site Core Manager is required prior the first booking of the instrument. Investigators are highly encouraged to apply for a Microgrant to cover the costs associated with the use of the core facility.
Dr. Bosque and Dr. Natalia Soriano-Sarabia are available to consult with DC CFAR investigators on the design and development of relevant grant applications. Assistance for the preparation, running and analysis of samples can be provided on an individual basis after consulting with the core director.
Leadership
The Multiparametric Flow Cytometry Laboratory is directed by Dr. Natalia Soriano-Sarabia.
