The DC CFAR Welcomes New Research Manager for the Social and Behavioral Sciences Core

Please join us in welcoming Allison O'Rourke from American University as the new Research Manager for the DC CFAR Social and Behavior Sciences Core.  Allison has extensive experience with the conduct of research across the research life cycle. Her research areas of expertise include data management, research study design, and statistical analysis particularly among vulnerablepopulations (drug users and those impacted by HIV).  Allison has experience with grant and journal article writing, IRB related processes including initial IRB application, renewals, and closeout, applying for certificates of confidentiality, and completion of annual reports for funding agencies. Her past statistical analysis experience has included qualitative and quantitative methods including time series data analysis, estimating populations of vulnerable groups, data mining, forecasting, qualitative data coding, and predictive modeling. 
 
Allison is available through the CFAR Social and Behavioral Sciences Core to provide support to DC CFAR investigators in the areas of:
  • Assistance with IRB related tasks such as initial applications, renewals, and certificates of confidentiality
  • Study start-up
  • Statistical analysis (Qualitative and Quantitative)
  • Survey instrument identification and design
  • Assistance with data management tools including identification and creation of data collection and study participant tracking databases
Most of these services can be completed at no expense to the investigator, though more in-depth and time intensive tasks may require some compensation be worked out.
