CROI 2016 Community-Wide Update Held Tuesday, April 5

In conjunction with the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the DC CFAR Community Advisory Board hosted a community-wide update at Us Helping Us in which CFAR investigators gave overviews to community members on recent developments in research presented at the 2016 CROI conference.  This year's agenda included:
  • Lifetime Risk of HIV Diagnosis, HIV Epidemics and Impact of Environmental, Structural Factors; New Antiretroviral Treatments - Keith Crawford, PhD, Health Scientist Administrator, Division of AIDS, National Institutes of Health
  • HIV Prevention Update - Manya Magnus, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor, Associate Chair, Milken Institute School of Public Health, George Washington University
  • New Advances in Management of HIV and Co-occurring Illnesses - Virginia Kan, MD, Associate Chief, Infectious Disease Section, Veterans Affairs Medical Center
  • An Update on Cure - Brad Jones, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine, The George Washington University
The purpose of the event is to sustain efforts that began in 2009 to gather community members interested in HIV science and provide an opportunity for them to learn about and discuss the latest developments in HIV care, treatment, prevention with local care providers, scientists and experts.  The presentations will be made available on the CFAR website shortly.
