The 10th IAS Conference on HIV Sciences meeting presents critical and influential HIV research featuring innovative practices. IAS 2019 was held in Mexico City this past July 21-24. DC CFAR members Manya Magnus, PhD, MPH, Alberto Bosque-Pardos, PhD, MBA,Mimi Ghosh, PhD, MS and DC CFAR CAB member A. Toni Young attended.
Dr. Magnus presented a number of posters including: "How will eventual HIV cure impact prevention behavior?", "Indications for PrEP and engagement along the PrEP continuum among emerging adult men who have sex with men in the Mid-Atlantic United States", co-authored with MACC Scholar Dr. Steven Meanley, and "Women exposed to recent sexual violence show increased inflammatory and decreased anti-HIV biomarkers in the reproductive tract", co-authored with Dr. Ghosh. She also presented on how to improve methods for moving from the clinical trial into the real world followed by a panel organized by the Inter-CFAR Implementation Science Working Group.
Dr. Bosque-Pardos presented a poster entitled "Development of Cytotoxic Enhancing Agents (CEAs) to improve shock-and-kill strategies" and was co-chair of a session on sources of persistent HIV infection in both tissues and the periphery.
