DC CFAR Director, Alan Greenberg, MD, MPH, and DC CFAR Member, Amanda Castel, MD MPH, along with their colleagues from George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health and associates at the Cerner Corporation recently published an article in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association entitled,"Development of a large urban longitudinal HIV clinical cohort using a web-based platform to merge electronically and manually abstracted data from disparate medical record systems: technical challenges and innovative solutions".
The article discusses the technical challenges encountered in the development of the DC Cohort - a combined electronic database for 13 of the largest HIV clinical sites in DC - and the innovative solutions developed to address these challenges.
