DC CFAR Participates in 10th Annual International Conference on Stigma

Dr. Anthony Wutoh Stigma Conference

The 10th Annual International Conference on Stigma was held at Howard University on Friday, November 22. DC CFAR Developmental Core Co-Director, Provost Anthony Wutoh (HU) and DC Health institutional representative Mr. Michael Kharfen, provided greetings and a welcome.

DC CFAR CAB members participated throughout the conference. Ms. Patricia Nalls and Ms. Khadijah Abdullah, were recognized with Stigma Warrior Awards. Community Coordinator and CAB Chair, Ms. Marcia Ellis spoke about the life and legacy of recently deceased CAB member, Mr. Joseph Hall in the in memoriam part of the program. Dr. Ron Simmons moderated a session on his Sexual Health in Black Gay Men Intervention called Bodemé. Mr. George Kerr and Mr. Pablo Moulden also participated. DC CFAR Director, Dr. Alan Greenberg (GW) and CAB members, Dr. Goulda Downer (HU) and Marcia Ellis were among those recognized at the conference as a Stigma Champion for their support of the conference over the past 10 years.

The conference convenes experts, including community members, to discuss stigma and its impact on the health and mental/emotional well-being of those diagnosed with HIV. Learn more about the conference.
