Archive Wednesday Conversations with the CPS Core

February 2021

The inaugural session featured a presentation focused on the following:

  • Orientation to the DC CTU and the DAIDS network structures for investigators interested in learning about the HPTN, ACTG, CoPVN networks. This session will be co-sponsored by the newly funded DC CTU.
  • Information about using the DC Cohort data for secondary analysis including available datasets and resources to get you started with your analysis.
  • Introduction to the CPS Core Match Maker (C2M2) initiative, a new CPS Core service that will support DC CFAR investigators by leveraging the strengths of our academic partners and their highly qualified graduate students. Find out how to apply for a Match
 

March 2021

The session entitled "Reaching your Research Goals Using Cohort Data" featured a discussion from DC CFAR CPS Core Director Dr. Seble Kassaye (GU) on the MACS/WIHS Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS) and Pilot Award Recipient Dr. Matt Levy on how he used cohort data to study cardiovascular disease risk among women living with HIV.

 

April 2021

The session entitled "HIV and Neurocognition" featured a discussion from DC CFAR Investigators Dr. Xiong Jiang (GU) and Dr. Blair Spence (GU) on how they are using cohort data to understand neurocognitive functioning in women with HIV.

 

May 2021

The session entitled "HIV, Microbiome, & Inflammation" featured a discussion from DC CFAR Investigator Dr. Mimi Ghosh on HIV and inflammation of the female reproductive tract and DC CFAR Pilot Award Recipients Dr. Kate Michel (GU) on the cervicovaginal microbiome in the context of HIV and cervical dysplasia.

 

June 2021

This session featured Dr. Anne Monroe (GW) on SARS-CoV-2 and the DC Cohort.

 

September 2021

The session featured a presentation from CPS Core Co-Director Dr. Sam Simmens (GW) who discussed best practices for statistical analyses in research proposals.

 

October 2021

The session featured a presentation from CPS Core Co-Director Dr. Manya Magnus (GW) entitled "Congratulations: You got funded! Now what!? Practical applications in study team management".

 

March 2022

CPS Core Director Dr. Seble Kassaye, CPS Co-Director for Biostatistics Dr. Sam Simmens, and CPS Core Co-Director for Epidemiology Dr. Manya Magnus presented strategies for team composition and discussed challenges and brainstormed ideas for research success. View the recording.

April 2022

Dr. Tamara Taggart discussed the NIH-funded "Limited Interaction Targeted Epidemiology (LITE-2): To Advance HIV Prevention", on which she and Dr. Jonathon Rendina are Co-PIs, and opportunities for leveraging this study for conducting other population health research. View the recording.

The seminar featured Dr. Robin Kelley on"The Minority Serving Institutions HIV/HCV Prevention Project 2020- until today". The recording will be available shortly.

June 2022

The seminar featured Dr. Anne Monroe on"Aging and Comorbidities Research among PWH: Findings from the DC Cohort".

 

September 2022

The seminar featured a presentation entitled "Injectable Cabotegravir for PrEP in Clinical Practice: Areas of Research to Accelerate Implementation" from DC CFAR member Dr. Rupa Patel and a community perspective from CPC member Ms. Melissa Turner.

 

October 2022

The seminar featured a presentation on developing multivariable prediction models from CPS Core Co-Director, Dr. Sam Simmens.
