Brown Bag Series: Networking and Sharing Opportunity for Researchers and Providers

March 8, 2016

As part of their DC CFAR Pilot Grant, Jennifer Huang Bouey, PhD and Katie Jares, PhD conducted a number of focus groups with service providers and street-based sex workers in Washington, DC.

One of the suggestions received during those focus groups with providers was a desire for more opportunities to network with other providers and to learn about new research related to working with marginalized populations, particularly around health, HIV, service provision, and similar difficulties.

With these suggestions in hand, over the next four months Drs. Bouey and Jares will be piloting a dinner series on the third Tuesday of the month. Would you or another member of your department be interested in presenting your research to service providers?

Presentations will be mostly informal, and the audience are mainly community service providers (case managers, outreach staff, etc.) who are familiar with your study population, but may not be methods-savvy. They will be interested in learning how the results and findings are applicable to their work as social service and healthcare providers working with marginalized populations.

Speakers are needed for the following nights April 22nd, May 17th, and June 21st. Meetings will be held at a central location (likely a public library) between 4-6 PM. Georgetown University will provide light dinner.

If you are interested, please email Katie Hail-Jares ([email protected]) or Jennifer Huang Bouey ([email protected]) with a short description of your planned presentation, a title, and what “take-aways” you hope to impart upon the group. Submissions are requested by March 31st
