Inter-CFAR HIV Continuum of Care Working Group Publishes Second JAIDS Supplement

April 15, 2015

The Inter-CFAR HIV Continuum of Care Working Group's second JAIDS supplement, "Addressing the Challenges of the HIV Continuum of Care in High Prevalence Cities in the United States", is now available on the JAIDS website. This supplemental issue describes the second series of studies to emerge from an NIH-funded initiative designed to increase collaborations among the CFARs, AIDS Prevention Centers (APCs) and local public health departments to inform and enhance outcomes in the HIV care continuum in settings where evidence-based practices are urgently needed.

The CFAR HIV Continuum of Care Working Group was formed in 2011 with the DC D-CFAR serving as the coordinating CFAR. Initially called the CFAR ECHPP Working Group (CEWG), the goal was to promote the conduct of HIV implementation science research by CFAR investigators in collaboration with their local Departments of Health (DOHs) in support of the CDC Enhanced Comprehensive HIV Prevention Planning (ECHPP) initiative. In 2014, the WG was renamed the CFAR HIV Continuum of Care Working Group when the ECHPP program ended and the WG focused on addressing the challenges of the HIV continuum of care. The WG was also expanded to include the National Institute of Mental Health-supported APCs. The WG published its first JAIDS supplement in November 2013 and has held two National CFAR/APC Continuum of Care Meetings in November 2012 and February 2013.
