Kimberly Miller

Policy Officer, HIV Medicine Association


Kim Miller is a Policy Officer of the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), the professional home for more than 4,800 physicians, scientists, and other health care professionals dedicated to the field of HIV/AIDS. Nested within the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), HIVMA promotes quality in HIV care and advocates policies that ensure a comprehensive and humane response to the AIDS pandemic informed by science and social justice.

In this position since May, 2009, Kim leads HIVMA policy and advocacy efforts on key issue areas, including appropriations, research, and promotion of science-based prevention and implementation of health care reform. She also represents HIVMA in a number of coalition groups within the HIV/AIDS and public health communities. Ms. Miller serves on a number of working groups of the Federal AIDS Policy Partnership (FAPP), including the AIDS Budget and Appropriations Coalition, the HIV Health Care Access Working Group, the HIV Prevention Action Coalition, and the Research Work Group.

Prior to her work with HIVMA, Ms. Miller served for ten years with the Alcohol Policies Project of the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), three years as a legislative aide to U.S. Representative Tony Hall (D-OH), and for seven years in varying capacities with Catholic Relief Services (the overseas relief and development arm of the U.S. Catholic Church), including two years as a project manager in Senegal. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Minnesota, and an M.A. in International Development from Clark University.
