Current HIV/AIDS-Related Research Activities
Recently, preliminary results from the Translational Type 2 Immunity Lab at GW demonstrated that HIV-related pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) antiretroviral treatment reduces allergic pulmonary inflammation in a murine model of house dust mite-induced asthma. This evidence serves as the foundation for the current pilot award application to DC CFAR, aiming to investigate the impact of HIV co-infection, as well as antiretroviral treatment on the development of allergic inflammation and asthma.
