DC CFAR Investigator Dr. Tamara Taggart published an article in JIAS August 2019 entitled "Getting youth PrEPared: adolescent consent laws and implications for the availability of PrEP among youth in countries outside of the United States".
In this study, Dr. Taggart and colleagues conducted a review of national policies that could impact adolescents' access to PrEP in 15 countries. PrEP-related policies were found to vary greatly by country, and the authors concluded that "adolescents' access to PrEP without parental consent remains limited or uncertain in many countries where this biomedical intervention is needed."
