DC CFAR Clinical and Population Sciences Core Director, Princy Kumar, MD, Receives Estelle Ramey Mentorship Award

Dr. Princy Kumar, Director of the DC CFAR Clinical and Population Sciences Core has been honored by Georgetown Women in Medicine with their Estelle Ramey Mentorship Award.

Dr. Kumar is a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine and Senior Associate Dean of Students at Georgetown University School of Medicine. For this nomination, Dr. Kumar was described as "a brilliant clinician, researcher and mentor. She is generous in offering opportunities to collaborate on research to faculty just beginning their clinical trial adventures at Georgetown."

Further, Dr. Kumar was recognized for making a "deliberate effort to mentor junior as well as senior faculty. She is noted as going out of her way to provide and support career development opportunities for faculty both in her division as well as outside her division. She supports her faculty in developing expertise in certain areas of infectious diseases by providing research opportunities, sending them to conferences, and nominating them to be on leading committees. She holds herself to the same high standards and this is one of the many reasons that she is a wonderful role model for faculty, house staff, and students."
