DC CFAR CAB member, Ms. A. Toni Young, was featured in a NY Times op-ed entitled, "H.I.V. Is Coming to Rural America". The article focuses on the challenges that rural America faces -- the opioid crisis, access to care, and stigma -- and the implications on rates of new HIV infections in these communities. Ms. Young provides insights on the opioid crisis in West Virginia and rural America's readiness to address conditions associated with HIV transmission. Ms. Young is a resident of West Virginia and serves as the Community Lead for the DC CFAR Drug User Health Scientific Interest Group.
Ms. Young was also interviewed for a Slate Podcast episode, entitled "HIV's Threat to Rural America".
