DC CFAR Associate Core Director, Dr. Seble Kassaye, Receives Two NIH Awards

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Seble Kassaye (GU), DC CFAR Clinical and Population Sciences Core Associate Director, on recently receiving two NIH awards. The first is a renewal of the U01 Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study/Women's Interagency HIV Study Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS), "Surviving the HIV Epidemic (S/He) in Metropolitan Washington DC - Advancing knowledge through Cohort Studies". Dr. Kassaye and Co-PI Dr. Dan Merenstein (GU) will continue the MWCCS which is "a collaborative research effort that aims to understand and reduce the impact of chronic health conditions that affect people living with HIV".
 
The second is an R01 from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to establish the "Women HIV Cohort Study (WHCS): HIV Infection and Treatment Among Women of Reproductive Age", which will be conducted in five sites in the South -- Atlanta, Birmingham/Jackson, Chapel Hill, Miami, and DC. Dr. Kassaye is a Co-PI and will lead the DC site to evaluate contributors to health outcomes of particular relevance to women of reproductive age living with HIV.  

Both studies will be open to recruitment shortly.
