Current HIV/AIDS Research Activities:

  • Developed research initiative related to antiretroviral drug resistance with focus of understanding genotype-phenotype correlation and clinical outcomes in non-subtype B HIV-1 infection (RO1, R21)
  • Research in pharmacologic modulation of immune activation as a therapeutic strategy in HIV disease
  • Effects of IL-6 Blockade on Treated HIV Infection, Research Grant# 1U01A105937-01, 2013-2017,NIAID, Co-investigator (Michael Lederman/ Benigno Rodrigues, Principal Investigators)
  • Evaluates clinical study protocols in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and International Maternal & Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) networks
  • Oversight of the Virology Quality Assurance (VQA)  program
