Join us! DC CFAR Developmental Core Journal Club Featuring Rachel Scott, MD, MPH - October 24, 2018 from 12pm-1pm

Please join is for a DC CFAR Developmental Core Webinar Journal Club on "hot topics" in HIV/AIDS research. The webinar session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM EST.
The goal of the Journal club is to:
  • Bring together junior and senior investigators from across institutions and disciplines.
  • Assist faculty to stay abreast of cutting-edge research across disciplines.
  • Spur interdisciplinary, transnational research.
  • Foster collaborations and networking opportunities.
The webinar will include a 20-minute synopsis of a recent article chosen by one of the CFAR Cores and presented by a lead investigator from that Core who will moderate the session. Dr. Rachel Scott, Assistant Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine and member of the DC CFAR Clinical and Population Sciences Core, will be the lead presenter of this month's Journal Club; she will, in addition to giving a synopsis, provide her perspective on the main topic of the following article:
Zash R, Makhema J, Shapiro RL. "Neural-Tube Defects with Dolutegravir Treatment from the Time of Conception." New England Journal of Medicine (2018).
Dr. Rachel Robinson, Associate Professor at American University, will respond to this article from a social and behavioral sciences perspective, and Dr. Katherine Chiappinelli, Assistant Professor at George Washington University, will respond from a basic sciences perspective. Ample time will then be given for open discussion and exploration of possible collaborations for future research initiatives. A webinar format will allow for the recording of our discussions for future reference, or for those unable to participate at a given session.
