Dr. Seble Kassaye Succeeds Dr. Princy Kumar as Director of the DC CFAR Clinical and Population Sciences Core

The DC CFAR is pleased to announce that Dr. Seble Kassaye (GU) will succeed Dr. Princy Kumar (GU) as the Director of the Clinical and Population Sciences Core joining Core Co-Directors Dr. Manya Magnus (GW) and Dr. Samuel Simmens (GW). Dr. Kassaye is the first DC CFAR Associate Core Director to transition to Core Director. In her new role, she will work with Drs. Magnus and Simmens to provide clinical, epidemiologic and biostatistical services to the DC CFAR investigator community.
 
Dr. Kassaye is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine/ Division of Infectious Diseases at Georgetown University and the PI of the "Surviving the HIV Epidemic (S/He) (formerly the WIHS/MACS) in Metropolitan Washington DC - Advancing knowledge through Cohort Studies". Her research focuses primarily on HIV in women and she also serves as the Co-Director of the DC CFAR Women and HIV Scientific Interest Group. 

 

Dr. Princy Kumar, the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Georgetown University will transition from CPS Core Director to the Georgetown University representative on the DC CFAR Oversight Committee. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Kumar for her five years of superlative service as Core Director and for her continued guidance and support in her new role on the Oversight Committee.
